The production of Newsies was nothing short of extraordinary - a shining example of what can be achieved through collaboration, creativity, and commitment. Described as “a polished and joyful production that spilled off the stage,” the energy and enthusiasm radiating from the performers created a magnetic atmosphere that truly captivated the audience. With “a wonderful sense of school and community spirit,” Newsies became more than just a show - it was a celebration of unity, passion, and young talent.
Kimberly Shaw from Stage Whispers praised the performance as “vibrant” and entertaining from beginning to end, while adjudicator David Ballantyne expressed how awestruck he was by the level of talent on display, calling it “a pleasure to be entertained” and shouting, “Bravo!” Paul McCarthy, fellow Performing Arts Festival adjudicator, commended the “exceptional standard” set from the opening notes, noting that he was so engrossed he “put his pen down” and simply enjoyed being immersed in the bustling streets of New York. He called the performance an “outstanding achievement” and reminded all involved that they should be immensely proud.
To everyone who supported the show - thank you. From those who collected and donated newspapers for our set, to those who helped behind the scenes, and even those who simply offered a kind word or wished the students luck - your support mattered. Every small gesture contributed to the success of this production and reminded us that it takes a village to create something truly special. We are deeply grateful for your encouragement, generosity, and belief in what we were working to achieve. Newsies was not just a production - it was a moment of magic, made possible by a passionate team and a dedicated group of students whose efforts will be remembered long after the final curtain call.
