Find Your Spark – Learning Beyond the Classroom

Over the past three weeks, our Year 5 and 6 students have enthusiastically immersed themselves in the first round of our Find Your Spark electives unit as part of their Endeavour program.

Designed to encourage students to step outside their comfort zones, Find Your Spark is all about trying something new, discovering hidden talents, developing practical skills and (most importantly) finding joy in learning. Whether students selected a workshop that aligned with an existing passion or took a leap into something completely new, each elective provided opportunities to build confidence, curiosity and resilience.

So far, this term's workshops have included:

• Video Game Analysis and Skill Development
• Onscreen Acting and Producing
• Robotics
• Coding and Web Design
• Videography
• Auto Mechanics
• Baking
• Pet Care and Animal Science
• Nursing and First Aid

None of this would be possible without the incredible generosity of our school community. A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful parents who have generously volunteered their time, expertise and enthusiasm to lead these workshops alongside our exceptional senior teaching team. Their passion, creativity and willingness to share their skills has inspired students to step outside their comfort zones and try something new, creating authentic learning experiences beyond the traditional classroom. An extra special thank you to Leith Rogers, Dannika Beel, Adam Goldfinch and Lauren Campbell for the energy, care and expertise they have brought to this initiative.

It has been wonderful to see students collaborating with peers from across the senior school, challenging themselves, asking thoughtful questions and celebrating new achievements. There has been plenty of problem-solving, creativity, teamwork and laughter along the way, with many students already discovering interests they hope to continue exploring well beyond these sessions.

At Mt Eliza Primary School, we believe that learning extends beyond literacy and numeracy. Programs like Find Your Spark allow our students to discover what excites them, broaden their horizons and begin imagining the many pathways their future might hold. We can't wait to see where the next round of Find Your Spark takes our students! In just two weeks, a brand-new set of electives will begin, with exciting workshops including Musical Theatre, Skateboarding and Interior Design, alongside a range of other fantastic opportunities.

How lucky our students are to be part of a school community so willing to share its talents, passions and expertise. It truly takes a village and thanks to the generosity of our parents, volunteers and staff, our students are discovering that one new experience can spark a lifelong passion.
