Grade 1 & 2

Term 2 - Week 2

We welcome everyone back to Term 2 and we hope you all had an enjoyable and restful holiday. The term began very differently to our regular weeks, beginning with no computers. The children quickly adapted to learning quite differently and enjoyed the change.

Last week we read the book ‘ANZAC Ted’, to help us understand the meaning of ANZAC and why we celebrate this day. After many activities, we concluded the week with an ANZAC liturgy. The children respectfully laid down poppies during this.

Have you ever used the term, ‘Money doesn’t grow on trees’? This week we read a book with this title and many of the children have definitely heard this said to them. We looked at what the children ‘want’ and what they ‘need’. This has been a great learning experience for them and has created some wonderful sentences using the words ‘but’ and ‘because’.

Our Discovery Centres have begun, with the children excitedly beginning and discovering new ideas.

We wish you all a wonderful Term Two and look forward to working with you and the children.

Heather, Anne, Claire, Georgia and Mollie.
