YEAR 5&6 WINTER SPORT
Our Year 5 & 6 students have had a fantastic first two rounds of netball and football so far! Last week our two football and six netball teams played extremely well as a team, and enjoyed their afternoon of footy against St. Mary’s Hampton and Galilee. To cap off a great afternoon of sport in the sun, both football teams came away with a win, with our netballers also proving too strong for their opponents also. A special thank you to the parents that are supporting our netball and football teams with supervision and/or umpiring! Our students and staff really appreciate your time and efforts.

We congratulate our team of 81 XC runners who last week all did themselves proud to run their 2km or 3km age group event races at Bald Hill Park in Clarinda. This park is far from the flat parkland of Dendy Park, so it saw many students have to push beyond their usual comfort zones to complete this hilly course. Our students competed against seven other Dendy schools, with around 80-100 students in each race. Well done to them all!
A massive congratulations goes to these 5 students who ran an exceptional race, coming top 8 in their event. They have now qualified to compete at the next level; Beachside Division XC. These students will once again run at Bald Hill Park, on Tuesday 26th May. We wish them all the very best for another strong race!
Sadie S: 8th
Jensen O: 9/10B - 5th
Sebastian S: 11B - 2nd
Oliver D: 11B - 5th
Ryder B: 11B - 1st
A massive thank you goes to our parent helpers; Kate J, Matt R, Carla O, James G and Annie X who gave up their entire afternoon to assist with bus support, supervision and even as course marshalls! We also thank our attending staff: Miss Daly, Miss Bourke, Mr Daly and Sally Hill, who did a wonderful job supporting the team at the venue.
Out of the eight Dendy schools competing, St. Finbar’s came an impressive 3rd overall on points, with St. Joan of Arc being announced as the Outright winning school.
AeroSchools Aerobics begins!
After our successful inaugural participation in the AeroSchool Aerobics program two years ago, many of our Year 5 & 6 students were keen to sign up to this fun and energetic program this term! We are thrilled to have 31 students enrolled and already training once a week with coaches Olivia & Ange. These students will form into small teams over the next two weeks and then practise and refine their routines in readiness to compete at the State AeroSchool Championships in Thornbury, on 30th of July. We wish them all the very best for a fantastic experience participating in this Aeroschools Aerobics program.
