Doctors in Secondary Schools

Doctors in Secondary Schools (DiSS) - Maffra Medical Centre

 Hi All,

Drs in Secondary Schools is here for students to make appointments every Wednesday between 9.30am and 1pm.

We are lucky to have two doctors who alternate weekly - Dr Arianne Magtibay or Dr David Vu. Both doctors have lengthy experience in adolescent health – physical and mental health.

We also have a Registered Nurse who is able to attend to most needs of the student and will assist the doctor as needed – some of these may include pathology, wound care and liaising with the Wellbeing Team ensuring holistic care at all times.

At the first appointment the nurse will attend to simple observations such as, height, weight and Blood Pressure to enter onto the students file. They will also introduce the student to the doctor.

After this, the nurse will welcome the students at future appointments and be a confidential listening post! We want our students to feel comfortable in their space.

DiSS is a government funded program and is free to all students.

When can students come see a DiSS Dr?

Students can make an appointment via Compass to see us for any issue you want!

For example:

If you feel sick at school or at home.

If you feel scared or anxious at school or at home.

If you need to know more about sexual and reproductive health.

If you can't make it to your normal Doctor because there is too many other things to do and not enough time.
