Year 3 and Year 4
A huge thank you to Mrs Stroud, Ms Bulte, Ms Dixon, Mr Jaynes and Della for taking the time away from their families to go on camp with our year 3's and 4's. These opportunities wouldnt be possible without the amazing staff at Sacred Heart.
Year 3
Literacy
Our Year 3 students are continuing their journey through Charlotte’s Web, exploring the story and learning fascinating facts about spiders. In writing, they are using the narrative mountain to investigate the structure of a story, focusing on the beginning, middle and end. Students are identifying key elements, including the introduction of characters and setting, the build-up of events, the problem or complication, the climax and the resolution. They are using these ideas to strengthen their understanding of how authors create engaging narratives.
Camp
Our Year 3 students have been loving their time at Summit Camp! They have embraced the opportunity to challenge themselves, build confidence and create lasting memories with their classmates. From soaring through the air on the flying fox and testing their skills in laser skirmish to tackling the giant’s ladder and working together during the scavenger hunt, there has been plenty of excitement, teamwork and laughter. It has been wonderful to see the students stepping outside their comfort zones, supporting one another and making the most of this special camp experience!
Year 4
Literacy
Our Year 4 students are exploring Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo, immersing themselves in this exciting adventure story. Through their reading, they are developing their comprehension skills, exploring character development and examining how authors build tension and create vivid settings. This term, students will also focus on persuasive writing, using themes and events from the novel to develop their ability to form opinions, construct strong arguments and support their ideas with evidence.
Camp
Our Year 4 students made the most of their extended stay at Summit Camp, embracing every opportunity to challenge themselves and try something new! From conquering the monster course and scaling the rock wall to taking a leap of faith, the students showed plenty of courage and determination. They also put their teamwork and problem-solving skills to the test during the bush challenge, orienteering, laser skirmish and scavenger hunt, alongside tackling the giant Tash's ladder and flying fox. With so many activities packed into their time away, the students returned with wonderful memories, stronger friendships and a great sense of achievement!
