Instructional Coaching at Sacred Heart – Reflecting, Refining and Growing Together! 🌱
Instructional coaching is all about working in partnership with teachers to reflect on classroom practice, strengthen evidence-based teaching approaches and continually improve student learning outcomes.
This term, our staff at Sacred Heart have hit the ground running, jumping straight into our first round of video-based instructional coaching!
Teachers have been invited to record themselves teaching a Mathematics lesson before meeting with our Learning and Teaching Leaders, Sarah Rafferty and Kate Stroud, to reflect on their practice, celebrate strengths and identify small, purposeful shifts to further enhance their teaching.
There is something incredibly powerful about watching yourself teach. It provides an opportunity to see and hear what students experience every day, notice things that might otherwise go unnoticed and reflect on the impact of our instructional decisions.
The process has been just as valuable for us as leaders, allowing us to identify common areas for professional growth and consider how we can better support our teachers through targeted professional learning.
Each teacher has now identified a personal instructional goal to work towards before our next round of video coaching.
Great teaching doesn't happen by chance. It is developed through reflection, collaboration and a commitment to continuous improvement.
How fortunate are we at Sacred Heart to have such dedicated educators who are willing to open their classrooms, reflect on their practice and continually strive to be even better for the students in their care! 💚
Funky Feet Friday
A huge thank you to our wonderful Sacred Heart community for your generous donations in support of Carrie’s Beanies 4 Brain Cancer.
It was fantastic to see so many funky feet on display, all in support of such a worthy cause that is close to our hearts.
We are thrilled to share that we have raised an incredible $2,907 so far!
