Greater Western Intermediate Tennis
On Wednesday March 6, the Intermediate boy's tennis team travelled to Ballarat to compete in the Greater Western stage of the competition. The team consisted of Toby, Jed, Raff and Maverick. Due to no Year 10 players being available due to camp, these Year 9 students faced some strong Year 10 opponents from both Horsham and Ballarat. A highlight for the day was Toby managing to win his singles match against his Horsham opponent 6-3. All four boys competed hard in their singles matches and were all very competitive. They fought strongly in their doubles matches despite going down. Congratulations to the boys on some great tennis and for making the Greater Western stage.
Greater Western Swimming
Our top 17 swimmers headed off to Horsham last week to compete in the Greater Western Championships. We had a beautiful Wimmera day with blue skies and sunshine and our swimmers shone.
Greater Western Swimming is highly competitive and it is not often that we get a gold medalist on the day.
Paige had one of her strongest swim meets, which was fitting, as it was her last swimming championship for Trinity College. Paige won gold in the 18-20 girls 50m Butterfly and is off to the State Championships, which is a fantastic achievement. She also finished second in both the 18-20 girls 50m Freestyle and 50m Breaststroke, receiving silver medals for her efforts. Then she joined up with some of our other swimmers in the 17-20 Girls Medley Relay and won a bronze medal. Paige was not the only swimmer to bring home medals for Trinity. 8 out of our 17 swimmers received a medal for their efforts in the pool and many of those students that did not end up in the medals posted personal best times for the 50m events. It was definitely one of our most successful swim meets.
