Teaching & Learning

Our mission for teaching and learning is for all students to achieve personal growth, build their skills, knowledge and character through quality teaching and engagement in learning. Along with support of families and connections with the wider community, Trinity College will continue with our high expectations to cater for every student's learning journey.

Behaviours for Learning

As the new Directors of Learning, we would like to say how impressed we have been by the attitudes to learning, and effort shown, by students across all year levels during Term 1. The introduction of Learning Community Leaders for Year 7 to Year10 has increased the support and focus on learning in each community. Our College Learning Community Leaders are:

Year 7 – Mrs Courtney Williamson

Year 8 – Mrs Shani Gill

Year 9 – Mrs Jennifer Colbron

Year 10 – Ms Chloe Hasell

Each leader works in partnership with the Year Level Coordinator to support the teaching, learning and wellbeing of all students at the year level.

Reports & Student Learning Conversations

Reporting time is an important opportunity for staff to communicate student learning successes and opportunities for improvement with families. The mid semester reports will be available for viewing from 2:30pm on Thursday 28 March via the PAM portal and best outcomes for student learning occur when a strong working partnership occurs between families and the school. As we shared with our new Year 7 families at their information evening, regularly checking PAM, discussing student reports with your child and attending Student Learning Conversations are important opportunities to stay informed and support values around education. Wednesday 1 May, we will have our first Student Learning Conversations for 2024.  We encourage all families to make time on this day between 11am and 6:30pm to meet with staff on site. Interviews can be booked via PAM from 2:30pm Thursday 28 March, the same time reports are available for reading. Should the day not work for you, please email your child’s teachers to arrange a phone call at a later date.

Careers

The expansion of our Careers Team is an exciting development to further support our students with career pathway support and guidance.  Mr Ryan Geary joins Mrs Julie Demasi in the Careers Team to develop awareness and support all students, while building connections to our community.  Their goal is to help students become aware of the variety of careers they might like to pursue, and develop mindsets for educated pathway decisions including post secondary school work opportunities, apprenticeships and further study.

On Monday 25 March, Year 10 students experienced a Careers Day where a wide range of careers were presented by local employment agencies and industries. Students explored the skills employers are seeking and were engaged in ‘speed-interviews’ and presentations.  The day enabled students to recognise careers that they may be interested in and be inspired by the success of individuals in our community.
