The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now open, and Whittlesea Primary School is excited to be participating. The PRC application offers a range of exciting features, including:

  • access to a library catalogue (including book images and blurbs)
  • a modern user-friendly interface
  • rewarding students with badges as challenge milestones are achieved
  • the option for students to mark books as a favourite, give them a star rating or complete a book review

The Challenge is open to all Victorian children from birth to Year 10 in recognition of the importance of reading for literacy development. It is not a competition, but a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books by 4 September 2026.

Children from Prep to Year 2 are encouraged to read or ‘experience’ 30 books with their parents and teachers. Children in Years 3 to 10 are challenged to read 15 books.

All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers.

Your child's login details have been sent home today with a welcome letter.

SLOW DOWN FOR SCHOOL ZONES

At Whittlesea Primary School, the safety of our students, families and staff is a priority. Please drive carefully when approaching the school and follow the school zone and residential speed limits. We ask that families avoid using the staff carpark for dropping off in the morning, as some staff are unable to park when they arrive.

In the Corella Drive Estate, the speed zone is 50 km/h, and in Plover Way (leading up to the school staff carpark), the speed zone is 40 km/h.

School zone times are clearly displayed on signs. In Victoria, time-based school zones operate on weekdays during school terms between 8:00 and 9:30 am and 2:30 and 4:00 pm, and they do not apply on public holidays.

General Reminders

Accessing Before and After School Care

Please take care when dropping off and picking up in the staff carpark. While drop-off and pick-up times are often outside school hours, we ask that you observe the posted speed limit.

DO NOT PARK in the Disabled Parking Bay unless you have the appropriate permits

DO NOT PARK or DROP OFF children in front of the bin skip cage

DO NOT reverse out of the carpark.

Police are conducting regular patrols and enforcing speed limits.

Thank you for helping keep our Whittlesea Primary School community safe by slowing down and staying alert in our school zone and staff car park.

We now have over 100 pavers permanently installed on the gym wall at the front of our school, and it looks amazing!

For just $50, your family can become part of our school's history. If you, a family member, or a local business would like to purchase a paver, you can place an order using the QR code below or by following this LINK

The next stage of this project will feature lighting that shines brightly through the night, showcasing our strong connection to the community.
