It is very important that students wear their sports uniform on their dedicated sports day and bring a drink bottle (or two on the hot days).

 

Sacred Heart Swimming Sports Years 4-6

The Sacred Heart Swimming sports will take place on Thursday 12th February at Blue Water Fitness Centre. All students from Years 4-6 have the opportunity to participate in this event. The swimming sports will start at 10:00am and finish at 1:00pm. Students will walk to Bluewater. We do need parent helpers on the day, so can you please indicate on PAM if you can assist.  A reminder to helpers, you must hold a current ‘Working With Children Check’ and the school office has sighted and entered your details.

(Permissions/parent helpers will be forwarded through PAM at a later date)

 

Bus Costs for 2026

Due to the continued rising costs of bus hire, this year in 2026, any student who makes it through to a Greater Western event or State event will be charged $10 to go towards the cost of the bus. Parents, Grandparents etc who would like to go on the bus to any of these events will be charged a fee of $20. We thank you for your understanding with this matter.

 

2026 Team Vic State Team Trials 

Registrations are starting to open for any child (12 years and under) who would like to try out for the Victorian State Teams. The School Sport Victoria (SSV) Team Vic representative program provides a development platform for Victorian students to challenge themselves against Australia’s best school aged athletes across numerous sports at the annual School Sport Australia (SSA) Championships. SSV coordinate the selection process for Team Vic teams in partnership with relevant state sporting organisations.

  • Australian Football 12 Years & Under Boys (Opens Friday 30th January and closes Monday 2nd  March 2026)
  • Basketball 12 Years & Under Girls/Boys (Opens Friday 30th January and closes Monday 2nd  March 2026)
  • Football (Soccer) 12 Years & Under Boys (Opens Friday 30th January and closes Monday 2nd  March 2026)

Students are reminded that the skills required for these teams must be exceptional.  It is NOT a ‘Come and Try’ system. Students are required to check with the school principal or sports teacher for endorsement to go to the trials.

Colac Division Tennis Tournament

The Colac Division Primary Schools Tennis Tournament will take place on Thursday 19th February at the Elliminyt Tennis Courts. Students in Year 5 and 6 can trial for this event. Students must be able to serve consistently and have an understanding of the scoring of tennis. Students who are interested must place their name on the Sacred Heart Sports Notice Board (in the gym). 

The day (for the boys) will start at 9:00am and finish at 11.45am. The day (for the girls) will start at 12.00 noon and finish at approximately 2.45pm. More information will go home to selected students.

 

Showjumping Champion

Congratulations to Lotus who represented Sacred Heart at the Moyne Equestrian Club Open and  Interschool Showjumping Weekend during the school holidays on her pony Mondale Abbott (Banjo).  Lotus finished the weekend winning all 3 rounds in the Primary 90cm Jackpot resulting in overall Champion. What a fantastic achievement.

Colac Kooka’s

Congratulations to all the students who represented Colac in basketball. Many teams have made finals and grand finals and should be very proud of themselves. Great teamwork Kooka’s!

1. What sports do you play? The sport I play is football.

2. What has been your favourite sport to play? My favourite sport to play is football.

3. What’s your favourite position to play and why? My favourite position is the backline in football because I get to stop the ball from going throught the goals.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I kicked a goal from the half way mark on the football field.

5. What skills do you think you’ve improved the most? The skill I have improved the most is my kicking of the football.

6. Who is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sporting team is Collingwood.

7. If you could play sport with any famous athlete, who would it be? If I could play sport with a famous athlete I would choose Nick Daicos.

8. What’s your pre-game routine or lucky habit? My lucky habit before a game is to wear my lucky hat.

9. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am good at sport and I display good sportmanship. I am a fair player.

10. What makes a good sportsperson? A good sports person is kind, helpful and very fair. They work well with their team mates.

1. What sports do you play? The sport I play is soccer.

2. What has been your favourite sport to play? My favourite sport to play is soccer.

3. What’s your favourite position to play and why? My favourite position is attack because I get to score goals from that position.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I scored a hatrick in cricket in only 5 minutes.

5. What skills do you think you’ve improved the most? The skill I have improved the most is my shooting skills in soccer. I am getting more accurate and scoring more goals.

6. Who is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sporting team is soccer team Real Madrid.

7. If you could play sport with any famous athlete, who would it be? If I could play sport with a famous athlete I would choose Lionel Messi because he is my favourite soccer player and he is a champion.

8. What’s your pre-game routine or lucky habit? My pre-game routine before a game is to wear my socks pulled up.

9. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am good player with great skills.

10. What makes a good sportsperson? A good sports person is kind, helpful and they stop when their friends are hurt and help them.
