New Social Emotional Learning Curriculum

One of the key features of the new social-emotional curriculum is the introduction of the URSTRONG Friendology program. It explicitly teaches the skills for strong, healthy, happy relationships. There are lots of free resources available to parents. You can assess these by signing up for a free membership. Working together, using the same language and strategies, will support your children in the best way! Use this Link to sign up today!

SWPBS: Positive Reinforcements at WPS

There are several ways staff at Whittlesea Primary School acknowledge the hard work and positive behaviours our students display both in the classroom and in the yard. These positive reinforcements can range from positive feedback to our WPS reward systems. Here is a snapshot of some of the ways staff positively reinforce student learning and behaviour at WPS.

Golden Tickets

Golden Tickets are a huge part of WPS's Tier 1 positive reinforcement systems. Staff hand out Golden Tickets to students who have demonstrated exemplary adherence to school expectations. Golden Tickets acknowledge the positive ways in which students display behaviours, and the purpose of staff is to reinforce and praise these behaviours. Golden Tickets can be redeemed at Whittlesea World twice a term, where tickets can be traded for a range of prizes and items.

House Tokens

House Tokens are also a part of our school's Tier 1 positive reinforcement systems. Staff hand out house tokens to students who have demonstrated positive school behaviour. The idea is that house tokens are handed out 'free and frequent' for all positive behaviours that do not require a Golden Ticket, e.g. lining up safely, following teacher instructions, keeping your desk neat and tidy. House tokens are collected each week, collated by our House Captains, and added to the ongoing total. At the end of each term, the house with the most tokens is part of a 'House Reward'.
