L4 Homework Week 5&6

Please remind students they need to bring a fully charged laptop to school each day.

Literacy:

We have now finished Storm Boy and can not believe it finished on a sad note. Many students related to Storm Boy and explained they understood the feeling as they had also lost a pet.

We are looking forward to starting Wonder next week. Thank you to parents who have purchased the book or are bringing their own copies to class, we really appreciate the support.

We are still encouraging students to create questions about what they are reading and even in their own sustained reading books, ask questions about the characters, the setting, why something happened, how did the characters feel. Asking questions can happen before reading (predicting, wondering), during reading (clarifing, inferring, visualising) and after reading (word meaning, understanding what happened)

In Core Literacy, we have learnt about the root word mit, miss, mise meaning to send.

This word builder picture below is part of the homework this fortnight. How many words do you know and do you know the meaning too? Homework is attached above and also in their Google Classroom.

Numeracy:

In Maths we have continued to build our number fluency by practising our skills daily.  We have also been practising times tables. By the end of this year students need to know and be fluent in the 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 times tables.

We have also been revising Time and Angles and learnt to use a protractor to measure the size of an angle.

Telling the time using analogue clocks, with 24hr time and Roman Numerals.
