As we wrap up the final fortnight’s newsletter of Term 3, there’s been no shortage of excitement, achievement, and community spirit across our co-curricular program.
We are thrilled to share that three teams represented Mt A in Optiminds for the very first time—a huge milestone! A special congratulations goes to our Year 11 team, who have been invited to the State Final in October at UQ St Lucia. Having had the privilege of judging throughout the day, in the Social Sciences division (not one of our teams’ categories), I can confidently say this is an incredible achievement given the outstanding standard of competition witnessed on the day.
Last Sunday’s Welcome Day was another proud moment for the Mt A community, with our co-curricular clubs shining brightly for the future generation of students. A heartfelt thank you to the Flora Club (part of Sprout Club) for creating two stunning bouquets from our very own gardens — crafted with the help of Mr Pratt and Ms Popplewell. What a beautiful way to showcase our homegrown spirit! Another thank you to our kind and generous iCentre team, who not only created some beautiful and unique bookmarks for the day, but also shared their banners and multitude of trophies! It truly is a team effort.
Additionally, a special shoutout goes to our Student Services team — the quiet heroes behind the scenes who make our excursions and competitions possible. From their meticulous preparation (even down to curating first aid kits for each event) to stepping up on days like Welcome Day — and yes, serving a mean cup of tea too — we are so grateful for your constant support.
Looking ahead, voting for our 2026 Co-Curricular Captains has now closed, and we’re excited to be meeting with our shortlisted candidates next week. Captaincies will be announced early next term—stay tuned! A big thank you to all students who nominated themselves or others. Your courage, kindness, and awareness are truly commendable.
This coming Monday (Week 10) is Co-Curricular Photo Day!
With a full roster of clubs scheduled across two areas of Sandam, we’ll be running on a tight schedule. Students and staff: please arrive early, in correct uniform (badges on, hair tied back, no makeup, etc.), and ready to celebrate all the amazing activities you’ve contributed to this year.
What a term it’s been! Enjoy the well-earned break ahead — we’re nearly there. I can’t wait to see what Term 4, 2025 has in store.
Well done, everyone!
