Our Fortnight in Frames

Smiles, snapshots, and standout moments — here’s what we’ve been up to at Mt A over the last two weeks!

Year 7 Welcome Day

On Friday 5 September, we had the joy of welcoming our 2026 Year 7 students for their very first full transition day! The day was all about connection — getting to know each and every one of them, helping them meet new friends, and introducing them to the spirit and identity of Mt A.

It was a truly wonderful experience, and we can’t wait to see them again in October for their next Transition event. ✨Congratulations to the graduating Class of 2031 — we’re so proud to officially begin this journey with you, and thrilled to have you as part of our Mt A community.

Year 11 Visual Arts Excursion – St Helena Island

Our Year 11 Visual Arts students recently enjoyed a day of inspiration at St Helena Island, a unique location chosen to spark ideas for their upcoming Year 12 body of work.

Seventeen students explored the island with the guidance of a ranger, delving into its layered history and environment. From its past as a penal colony to its Indigenous significance and ongoing conservation, St Helena offered rich stimulus for creative interpretation.

The experience was not only educational but also a beautiful day outdoors, giving students plenty of inspiration to carry into their senior Visual Arts studies.

Spotlight on Drama

Year 7 Drama – Children's Theatre

Year 7 Drama students have been exploring the world of Children's Theatre.

Through improvisation, role play, and characterisation, students brought to life , often with a humorous or unexpected edge. This unit encouraged them to take risks, think outside the box, and most importantly, have fun while developing their performance skills.

As a special highlight, they performed their pieces for students at St Anthony’s this week, sharing their creativity and energy with an enthusiastic audience.

✨ Year 8 & 9 Drama – Physical Theatre Assessment

Our Year 8 and 9 Drama students recently completed their Physical Theatre assessments, showcasing their ability to tell stories through movement, gesture, and ensemble work.

This style of theatre requires students to think creatively about how meaning can be expressed without words, focusing on body language, spatial awareness, and collaboration.

The performances were a testament to their imagination, teamwork, and growing confidence as performers.
