Senior School

Term 1 Week 8
The past two weeks have been filled with focused learning across our subjects. In Numeracy, we've tackled the complexities of decimal multiplication and division, emphasising the importance of precision in mathematical operations. Our Reading sessions have been dedicated to developing our ability to infer character emotions, learning to analyse textual clues to understand the underlying feelings within a written text. In Writing, we celebrated the successful publication of our narrative stories, a testament to our creative writing skills. Building on this success, we've now begun exploring persuasive writing, learning to articulate our viewpoints effectively and construct compelling arguments.
We want to extend a huge congratulations to all our Grade 5 students for their participation in NAPLAN. You approached the tests with maturity and determination, and we commend your efforts. Remember, your learning journey is ongoing, and we're here to support you every step of the way

First Aid
On Wednesday, 12 March, Grade 6 students participated in a first aid course run by Cool Kids First Aid. The program provided essential knowledge and hands-on training in handling medical emergencies, covering topics such as anaphylaxis, asthma, DRABCD, blood noses, and burns. Students gained practical experience by using an EpiPen, performing CPR, placing patients in the recovery position, and applying bandages for cuts and snake bites.
Both Mr Smith and Miss Black, were impressed with the students' enthusiasm, highlighting how these life-saving skills will benefit them beyond the classroom. Students also expressed excitement about the experience, with Anna stating, "I really enjoyed practising CPR because now I feel like I could help someone if they needed it."
The session was made possible with support from the Lions Club Warrandyte, and ACPS looks forward to continuing these valuable learning opportunities that promote safety and community responsibility.
Homework
Homework is an essential part of learning, helping students reinforce what they have covered in class, while developing important skills such as time management, responsibility, and problem-solving. It also allows parents to stay involved in their child’s education and track their progress. By building good study habits, homework prepares students for future academic success.
To support consistency, homework will be posted on Google Classroom every Monday, ensuring all students have easy access to their assignments. We encourage families to check in regularly and support their child’s learning at home.
