Student Voice

Our Student Voice team has been busy turning student feedback into action!
Earlier this term, our Student Voice representatives gathered feedback from students across Brookside to find out what they think our school does well and where we could make improvements. After bringing the results together and looking closely at the data, some clear themes emerged. Students told us they would like to see improvements to our toilet environments, less litter around the school and a greater focus on taking pride in our school grounds.
Based on this feedback, Student Voice has chosen Brookside’s environment and cleanliness as our project focus.
Students have now moved from identifying the problem to developing solutions. Working in focus groups, they are currently planning four different initiatives:
- House-coloured bins
- Student awareness and educational videos
- Posters and murals around the school
- A 10-cent container collection incentive
Each group has developed an action plan identifying what they want to achieve, the steps they need to take, who they need to involve and how they will bring their idea to life.
The next stage is the exciting part – taking action! Over the coming weeks, students will begin putting their plans into practice before evaluating the impact of their projects later in the year.
We look forward to sharing their progress and seeing our students' ideas make a positive difference across Brookside!
