Over the next fortnight, our SWPBS focus will be Resilience All Settings
At Brookside College, our School Matrix helps students understand the behaviours that support a safe, respectful and positive learning environment. This term, we are focusing on Resilience and what this looks like across all settings of our school.
What does Resilience look like at Brookside?
We include others
We make sure everyone feels welcome and has the opportunity to participate. This might look like inviting someone to join a game, listening to others' ideas, working cooperatively in a group or noticing when someone may need a friend.
We wait patiently
Waiting patiently means taking turns, listening while others are speaking, following routines and managing our feelings when we have to wait.
We are honest
We tell the truth, even when it can be difficult. Being honest means taking responsibility for our choices, admitting when we have made a mistake and being trustworthy with our words and actions.
Building resilience is something we can all support. Families can help by talking with children about these behaviours and looking for opportunities to practise them at home and in the community.
Year 5/6 Dodgeball Competition
We are excited to announce the launch of our Year 5 and Year 6 House Dodgeball Competition!
Throughout the term, students will have the opportunity to represent their House and compete against the other Houses in a series of Tuesday lunchtime dodgeball matches.
How it works:
- Each House will play against every other House once throughout the competition.
- The competition will culminate in an exciting Grand Final during the final week of term, where our top Houses will battle it out for the championship!
We look forward to seeing our Year 5 and 6 students getting involved and supporting their House with pride!
Year 2 Lego Building Competition
We are excited to announce a LEGO Building Competition for our Year 2 students during Term 3!
Each Thursday recess, our Year 2 students will have the opportunity to get creative, use their imagination and put their building skills to the test as they create a range of exciting LEGO creations.
The competition will run throughout Term 3 on Thursday, providing students with a fun and engaging opportunity to build, create and challenge themselves.
We can't wait to see the amazing creations our Year 2 students come up with!
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to create a safe, respectful and positive learning environment for all students. We look forward to celebrating the many students who demonstrate our Brookside values throughout the fortnight!
