EAL with Alice

Our EAL students have enjoyed creating a vegetable and herb garden as part of their learning this year. Students explored new vocabulary while planting, watering the garden and discussing what plants need to grow. They practised speaking and listening skills by following instructions, asking questions and working together to care for the garden.

Students also enjoyed using some of the freshly grown produce to cook a delicious Chard and Lemon pasta dish. During the cooking experience, students developed their language skills by reading a recipe, naming ingredients, sequencing steps and using everyday cooking vocabulary such as chop, boil, stir and sprinkle. It has been wonderful to see students build confidence in English through these hands-on learning experiences.
