Year 5/6 Camp

On the 22nd - 24th of April, the grade five and sixes got a chance to experience Ferngully Lodge, an adventure camp.

At Ferngully the staff were very welcoming. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed by the owner, Jason. He showed us around, and told us about the history of Ferngully lodge. Later we got introduced to the cooks, one of which was Tess, Jason’s wife. Our other instructors, Rory and Ben were very kind. We also had extra parent helpers with the large number of students at camp.

Later we got shown to our cabins and we got settled in. The cabins were somewhat cozy with a few windows and many bunk beds. Most people didn’t sleep on the first night but for the second night people were too tired.

We had great activities including:

• Giant swing was one of  the hardest things to do at the camp.
• Leap of faith was scary, you had to jump from a very high pole.
• Low ropes, you think it would be easy but we were all struggling to find our balance.
• The games room had air hockey, table tennis and also fun board games.
• Archery was fun but tricky, and hard to keep aim.
• On the zip line, we were hanging on for dear life. 
• Commando Course was a very exhausting thing to do.
• Initiatives, a teamwork game, and we all worked together very well!

All of these activities were a great opportunity !

The food was amazing, we ate food like burgers, muffins, chocolate mousse, ( the chocolate mousse was delectable !!), pasta, etc.

The lunch ladies were so talented because this might have been my favourite camp meal and I got seconds every time.

We got duty groups to help clean up after our meals, it showed us how much the staff do for us.

We all had fun in Ferngully, and this will be memorable especially for the grade 5/6 ‘s, it being their last years of camp in primary school.
