Principal Report

I would like to begin by congratulating our Principal, Nathan, who has taken on a secondment within the region to support several other schools. This is a wonderful opportunity for Nathan, and a testament to the expertise and leadership we see every day. We know the schools he is working with will greatly benefit from his knowledge and experience. During this term, I will be stepping into the role of Acting Principal and will be holding down the fort until Nathan returns in Term 3. Thank you to our community for the many kind words and ongoing support during this transition—it is truly appreciated.

As is often the case in schools, change is inevitable, and this term we say goodbye to one of our valued staff members, Alicia McNiff. Alicia has been a wonderful part of our school community for a number of years and has most recently taught our Prep C classroom alongside Laura. While we wish her all the very best in this exciting next chapter, we sincerely thank her for the many positive contributions she has made to CGPS. She will be greatly missed by staff, students, and families alike.

During the final few days of Term 1, our school underwent its School Review process. We extend our thanks to our School Council President and Vice President who joined us across the two days. Alongside our staff and the school reviewer, we also welcomed our Senior Education Improvement Leader, fellow principals, and regional staff who supported this important work. The two days were highly productive, involving classroom observations, focus groups with students, teachers and parents (thank you to those parents who were able to attend), and rich discussions about our future directions as a school. We are now looking forward to finalising our School Strategic Plan (SSP), which will guide the development of our Annual Implementation Plan (AIP). As we finalise these documents, we remain firmly committed to delivering the best possible learning for your children every day.

As we move further into Term 2, it’s wonderful to reflect on the rich learning experiences that took place throughout Term 1. Classrooms were filled with curiosity, creativity, and collaboration, with students engaging deeply in their learning and building strong foundations for the year ahead. This positive momentum has continued seamlessly into Term 2. Students are already extending their knowledge, embracing new challenges, and continuing to grow as confident and capable learners. Our staff are excited to build on the progress already made and to support every student in reaching their full potential.

As we progress through the term, we also enter an important period for reporting. Student reports will provide valuable insight into each child’s learning progress and achievements. Parent-teacher interviews at the end of the term will offer a valuable opportunity to celebrate successes, discuss goals, and strengthen the partnership between home and school in supporting each student’s learning journey.

Thank you to our families for your ongoing support—it truly makes a difference. We look forward to a continued successful and engaging Term 2.
