Library News

The Oberon High School library is looking a little different this term with our teacher librarian Ms. Louise Monotti accessing leave for the rest of the year and beyond. Ms. Monotti has been a stalwart of Oberon High School since 1989 and the cornerstone of the library for all that time. Over the years Ms. Monotti must have recommended thousands of books, guided many research tasks, assisted with frantic last-minute speeches, assignments and SACs, as well as generally supported all staff and students with her thorough and considered help. There will be more official farewells later in the year, but here in the library we wanted to acknowledge Ms. Monotti’s dedication to all at Oberon High School.
Of course this brings change to the library, and we welcome Frau Branell to the role of library teacher and manager. We welcome Frau Branell’s bright enthusiasm and fresh ideas!
Term 3 in the library brings a host of exciting new books and we'd like to highlight a few here. Graphic novels remain very popular, including the eagerly anticipated book 6 in the Heartstopper series which has finally arrived, and latest in the 'Wings of Fire' series 'Talons of Power'. The world of 'The Inheritance Games' saga continues to grow with 'The Gilded Blade' expected in the next week or two. Finally, the completion of the World Cup has seen an explosion of interest in the 'beautiful game', with soccer balls being borrowed from the library at a record rate! Brush up on your knowledge with the latest football encyclopedia.
Lastly, the most exciting week on the calendar, Book Week is fast approaching! The theme this year is 'Symphony of Stories'. Keep an eye out for some displays and competitions that will be happening in the lead up and for the rest of the term.
