Dear Students, Parents and Carers,

Over the past fortnight, our Year 10 and Year 11 students have completed their exams. This experience has provided an excellent opportunity for students to practise their skills in an exam environment, develop confidence, and build their ability to perform under examination conditions in preparation for future VCE studies.

Looking ahead, the General Achievement Test (GAT) will take place next Tuesday, 16 June, for all students currently undertaking a Unit 3 and 4 sequence. To support students, an information and preparation session was held to ensure students were familiar with the structure and expectations of the GAT. Thank you to Karen Adler and Liam Pain for organising this valuable session. Further information for families can be found elsewhere in this newsletter.

Next Tuesday, we also invite all current and prospective Year 9, 10 and 11 families to attend our Senior School Pathways Information Evening. Years 9 and 10 are pivotal stages in a student's educational journey, as they begin to explore interests and the pathways and opportunities available beyond compulsory schooling. Whether your child is considering the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), the VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM), or a Vocational Education and Training (VET) pathway, the decisions made over the coming years will help shape their future direction. The evening has been thoughtfully designed to provide students and families with the information, guidance and confidence needed to make informed decisions that align with each student's interests, strengths, learning style and future aspirations. We strongly encourage all Year 9 and 10 students and their families to attend as it’s a valuable opportunity to gather information and insights ahead of your child's upcoming individualised course counselling session. Families will be able to speak directly with key staff members, our Careers and Pathways Advisor, Linda Snoxall, and many external providers, ensuring access to quality and informed advice. Light refreshments will be provided.

This event will directly support our upcoming Course Counselling and Subject Selection Day on Monday, 22 June, 2026. This day will operate as an adjusted school day for all Year 9 and 10 students, with no regular classes running for these two year levels. Students and families are expected to attend a scheduled course counselling interview, with appointments available between 8.30 am and 6.30 pm. Further information, including booking details, will be provided to families via email.

It is important to us that our students and families feel supported throughout key transition points in their education. I encourage all families to take advantage of these opportunities as we begin to plan for the 2027 school year.

We warmly welcome Scott Milman to our school community following his recent relocation from New Zealand, and we look forward to him becoming a valued member of our community teaching in the English and Humanities subject areas.

This evening, our Year 12 students will attend the Combined Schools Year 12 Ball. There has been much excitement throughout the week as students look forward to this special event. I wish all of our Year 12 students a wonderful evening as they celebrate this important milestone. We look forward to sharing some photos at a later date.

As we count down the final two weeks of term, students and staff are also looking forward to our annual Big Freeze event, which will be held on the last day of term and organised by our Student Representative Council (SRC) and overseen by Laura Caruana. This promises to be a fun-filled day as we raise awareness and support a very worthy cause. Please stay tuned to our Facebook page for further information on how your child can get involved.

We look forward to a positive and productive conclusion to the term. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you would like to discuss any of the events or opportunities available to your child or family.

Best wishes,

Jennifer Chatfield
