Digital portfolios in the Junior School
The school pick-up conversation is a familiar ritual for many families. After a busy and fulfilling day, parents often ask the same question: “What did you do at school today?” The response can be equally familiar: “Not much,” or “I can’t remember.” And yet, behind those brief answers lies a day of learning of many meaningful experiences. It may be a new concept mastered, contribution to a class discussion, a creative piece of writing, a scientific discovery, or an act of kindness towards a classmate. At St Catherine’s School, we know these everyday moments matter. And importantly, we want to be able to share these moments with parents.
To help make these moments more visible, we are delighted to introduce the Junior School’s first digital portfolio initiative. Through the School’s Learning Management System, Schoolbox, Learning Moments will capture and share meaningful snapshots of the girls’ learning with parents. Launching on 11 June, Learning Moments will provide families with a valuable window into their daughter’s learning journey. Through photos, videos, work samples, and teacher observations, parents and carers will gain greater insight into the experiences, achievements, and progress that shape each student’s development throughout the year.
As part of our commitment to fostering strong partnerships between home and school, Learning Moments will complement our existing communication channels and provide families with a deeper understanding of life in the Junior School. We look forward to sharing these snapshots of learning with you and celebrating the many moments that contribute to your daughter’s growth and success.
An email will be sent to parents on Tuesday 9 June with instructions on how to access Learning Moments through the Schoolbox app. We are excited to share this next step in building authentic home-school partnerships.
