TERM 2 SPORT
Year 6 Term 2 Winter Sport Competition Wrap-Up
This semester the Year 6s from Ormond Primary have been doing interschool sport. Interschool sport is a fun, physical opportunity to learn new sports with your peers and enjoy playing as a team. In Term 1 the options for our sports were softball, girls T-ball and hot shots.
Every week on a Friday morning we would go to different schools to play a game of the sport we chose, sometimes we came home with a win and sometimes we lost, but overall we had a blast. Our teams showed integrity every match by behaving by the rules and always being kind to our opponents even when they were not kind to us.
Our softball team in Term 1 were so close to getting into divisions, which is when we play schools from different districts in Victoria. Sadly Bentleigh West just beat the team but Ormond did amazingly otherwise. Sometimes when the other team wasn't playing fair we stayed calm and continued on playing fairly. Ms Vallence was the coach for the softball team, Miss Delaney was the coach for the girls T-ball team, and Mr Pannam was the coach for hot shots. We thank them so much for all the time they put in, we’ve improved so much because of them.
Moving on to Term 2, the sport options were T-ball gold, T-ball green, netball and basketball. In a round later on in Term two T-ball gold versus T-ball green at our school where any classes could come cheer on our teams. Both teams played spectacularly but in the end T-ball green earned the victory. Recently T-ball gold played Mckinnon Primary school and their was this vision impaired student who was playing in their team, this student had to have another student help him run to the different bases, the students of Ormond Primary decided to give him a chance to play and not get him out straight away and let him have his full go. Although they did not decide this as a team they all knew it was the right thing to do. After the game the coach for the Mckinnon team said to them that they were the first team to ever do this for him and all the other schools had got the vision impaired student out on the first go. We are all so proud knowing that our school had the heart to do something so nice for the opposing team. T-ball green has yet to play in the semi-finals to determine whether or not they will make it to the grand finale. Ms Vallence coached T-ball green, Miss Weaver coached T- ball gold, Miss Delaney coached netball and Mr Pannam coached basketball.
We appreciate all the teachers who took time out of their days to coach us and make the amazing teams that we are. That is the interschool sport update for this semester. This has been a great experience learning new sports. Thank you again to Miss Delaney, Ms Valence, Miss Weaver and Mr Pannam.
