Poetry in Motion

The students in 1/2OT have been using their creativity to write beautiful poetic words.

Three different styles of poems are represented in the poetry below. They styles are:

A cinquain poem is a five-line poem. It's a short, concise form of poetry, inspired by Japanese forms like haiku. While cinquains can be written on any subject, they are known for their structured syllable count and their ability to convey a lot with few words.

A raindrop poem focuses on imagery, symbolism, or experience of a single raindrop or raindrops in general. These poems often explore themes of nature, life, interconnectedness, and even human emotions, using the raindrop as a focal point or metaphor. It follows a raindrop shape.

An acrostic poem is where specific letters, usually the first letter of each line, spell out a word, name, or phrase when read vertically. This "hidden" word or phrase is often related to the poem's topic or theme.

    Splish splash

 Raindrops are falling,

from the clouds. Splashing on

my face so loud.  It fills the rivers,

lakes and beaches. It is

important for you

and me!

Acrostic Poem

Strong winds blow things

Trees fall in the breeze

Ocean waters swirl

Rain pours over us

Mud splashes as rain falls

Striking lightning
