Art Creative Practice Excursion
Ms Sarroff Report
Earlier this month, Art Creative Practice students participated in a packed excursion to the CBD for a day filled with exciting activities and experiences, thanks to Melbourne University and the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA).
Melbourne University generously provided catering and a chartered bus, giving students the opportunity to visit the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) and explore a cutting-edge exhibition at Buxton Contemporary. Students engaged with educational staff, met curator Annika Kristensen and Director Charlotte Day and gained insights into the world of contemporary art, ideas and concepts.
At the VCA, students were treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of the sculpture, printmaking, photography and drawing departments, meeting technicians, lecturers and university students along the way. They also visited a couple of galleries on campus, including an exhibition showcasing Year 12 students from VCASS.
The day concluded with a visit to ACCA to view Tenant Creek Bio, an exhibition by First Nations artists that delves into themes of Country, culture, mining, colonisation, truth-telling, resilience and land rights. The students thoroughly enjoyed this rich and varied experience.
We extend our gratitude to everyone involved, including the students, and Ms. Gomez, who accompanied us on this enriching excursion.
