Year 10 Tennis Grand Final

It wasn’t the result they wanted in the Year 10 Tennis Grand Final last week, but the team played really well, and put up a great fight.  The result was a win to Friends’ 4 sets 21 to 2 set 11.  The team was excited to play the final on Centre Court and Court 1 at the Domain.

The match was played on Year 10 Study Day, which made it a mentally draining day for Year 10s Zali Elliott and Ashlan Ryan.  Nonetheless, Zali won her singles and Ash and Zali fought back from 1 - 3 down to 3 - 3 and match point, for either team at deuce, to take the win.

Thanks to Year 8 student, Evie Bosworth, who stepped in to fill the third spot in the team this roster.  She did really well to play above her age, and improve through the games.

Thanks also to Belinda Hebbink for supervising and transporting the team each week.  They couldn’t have done it without you!

Triathlon

For the first time since 2019, the College has been able to participate in both the Secondary and Primary Schools Triathlons at Bellerive Beach, on Thursday and Friday last week.  Unfortunately, the weather on Thursday was less than perfect, and the rain in the lead up to the event in particular caused the cancellation of the Swim Leg.  There were few complaints though, as the event became a Duathlon – Beach Run, Bike, Run event.  24 students from Year 7 - 9 took part. The day started with the individual competitors before the relay teams had their turn in the afternoon.

Then it was the Primary’s turn, and the day could not have been better.  15 students tested their endurance in the individual event, and another 39 joined for the team's events in the afternoon. The event was massive, with nearly 3000 students participating, and many more parents and spectators adding to the atmosphere.    Triathlon is a gruelling event, and we are very proud of the efforts and fighting spirit from all competitors.  The students also displayed fantastic support and encouragement for each other.
