An Advent Prayer
Loving God,
As we enter this sacred season of Advent,
We pause to quiet our hearts and prepare for the coming of Your Son.
Amid the busyness of our days, help us to find moments of stillness -
to reflect on the hope, peace, joy, and love You bring into our lives.
Lord, may the light of the Advent candles remind us
that Your light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness cannot overcome it.
Fill us with hope as we wait in joyful anticipation of Your promises fulfilled.
Teach us to embrace the peace that only You can provide,
to seek joy in simple blessings,
and to share Your love with all those around us.
May this Advent season draw us closer to You,
renewing our faith and opening our hearts
to welcome Jesus, Emmanuel, God with us.
Amen.
The Season of Advent: A Time to Pause and Prepare
As the first Sunday of Advent marks the beginning of December, we are reminded that this season is more than just the lead-up to Christmas - it is a sacred time of waiting, reflection, and preparation. Amid the busyness of shopping, planning, and celebrating, Advent offers a chance to pause and realign our focus.
Advent, which means "coming," invites us to prepare our hearts for both the celebration of Christ’s birth and His promised return. Each of the four weeks focuses on a core theme: Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. These themes serve as reminders of what truly matters during the holiday season, cutting through the noise of our hectic schedules. Lighting the Advent candles each week symbolizes the growing light of Christ in a dark world, a meaningful visual reminder that even in busy or difficult times, hope prevails.
This year, let Advent be a time to embrace stillness and reflection. Take moments to reconnect with God, savor time with loved ones, and nurture gratitude for the blessings in your life. The beauty of Advent is not found in the hurried pace of the world, but in the quiet anticipation of the greatest gift of all: Emmanuel, God with us.
A Final Farewell to Our Year 10 Students
As the school year draws to a close, we take this opportunity to farewell our wonderful Year 10 students as they embark on the next chapter of their journey. This is a time of mixed emotions—excitement for the new opportunities ahead, but also a bittersweet goodbye to the familiar faces, classrooms, and routines that have shaped these formative years.
Year 10 students, as you prepare to step into your new schools, pathways, or ventures, remember the values and lessons you have learned here at Mount Carmel College. Whether it was the friendships you forged, the challenges you overcame, or the growth you achieved along the way, these experiences will continue to guide you. You leave with our deepest admiration for the way you have faced challenges with resilience and embraced opportunities with enthusiasm.
We are so proud of the women you are becoming, and we are confident that you will continue to shine brightly in the years ahead. As you leave, know that you will always remain a cherished part of our community. May you step forward with courage, kindness, and a determination to make your mark on the world.
Congratulations, Year 10 - go with our blessings and best wishes for the exciting road ahead!
