Welcome BBQ
Last Thursday evening of Year 6’s attended the Welcome BBQ and we also welcomed new students who will start at Mount Carmel in 2025. The evening gave all an opportunity to ask questions, seek assistance around transition and find out how things tick across the College. Thanks must go to the Primary staff who provided work for the display we set up as well as those staff who stayed back to assist.
Celebration Evening
Tonight our Years 5 and 6 students will join the Secondary school to come together to celebrate the year at the College. The evening is a fabulous showcase of the academic, sporting and cultural success of the College with four awards dedicated to the Primary school. These awards have a strong tradition with the Claire Edwards and Mervyn Clyde Quinn Award being part of the fabric of our College for a long time.
Step Up Day
On Monday our Kinder - Year 5 students will head to their 2025 classes for a day of getting to know their new classmates, new teacher and have some fun along the way. We will start the day by gathering as a whole Primary and taking some time to pray before heading to classes until 2:30pm. Our current Year 6 students will divide into their navy and white classes with one group working with Maureen Fasnacht for an art project and the other working with Dimitry Davies doing sport - and then they will swap over. Our 2024 Year 6 students need to wear their PE gear that day.
Nativity
On Monday 16 December our ELC - Year 4 students will retell the story of the Birth of Jesus. Our students have been rehearsing their lines, learning new songs and working out how it all fits together.
A reminder will be posted on Seesaw (Kinder - Year 2) next week and a flyer sent home on Friday 13 December. A reminder that this is a compulsory school event for our Kinder - Year 4 students. Below are a few dot points that will assist you in planning for the evening:
It is important to note that the Nativity is a prayer so please do not applaud at the start, during or at the conclusion. Save that to the end after we have done some carolling.
Reporting
Staff have been working tirelessly to tidy up assessments, ensuring work is completed and finalising reports with them being sent home at the end of term. End-of-Year reports play a crucial role in fostering communication and collaboration between schools and families. These reports provide valuable insights into a student’s achievements, progress, and areas for growth, offering a comprehensive reflection on their learning journey throughout the year. Sharing this feedback helps to celebrate successes, recognise efforts, and build students' confidence. Additionally, these reports serve as a foundation for goal setting, enabling families and educators to work in partnership to support continued growth and development in the coming year. By valuing this process, we strengthen the relationship between home and school, ensuring that every student is supported in reaching their full potential.
