ANZAC Day Service 2026
The Roselea Anzac Day Service for 2026 will be held on Friday 24th April (Term 2, Week 1), commencing at approximately 9:30am, under the COLA. On this day, we will commemorate our past and present Defence Force personnel. All students in our school will be present and our school band will play. Warrant Officer Luke Brewer will also address our students.
Students who are in a service group outside of school, such as Cubs, Guides, Scouts or Brigades are most welcome to wear their service uniform on the day. Also, students may wear family service medals, if you wish. On the day all students will wear a special felt poppy, made by a former parent, Mrs Jennifer Kingman. The poppies are either red, purple or white. Red represents fighting and support personnel, white represents medical personnel and purple represents the animals which have served in the armed forces.
We also ask that on the morning of Friday 24 April, families send flowers from their own garden or artificial flowers, so that each class may make a wreath, which will be placed at the bell tower, beneath the Australian flag, during the service. Children of current serving Defence personnel will also place flowers at the bell tower. The wreaths will afterwards be taken to local War Memorial Cenotaphs.
We would like to extend an invitation to all our school community, to join us for this special service. To assist with our planning, if you are able to be present on Friday 24 April, please complete the form here, indicating that you will be joining us.
Recycling for Rewards
We're excited to announce the launch of our 'Recycling for Rewards' Drive, a new initiative led by the P&C and our School Environment Student Leaders. Beginning Week 2, Term 2, we will be collecting eligible recyclables every Wednesday morning on even weeks (Weeks 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10).
On these designated days, Year 6 Student Leaders will bring dedicated recycling bins to the top gate of the school for collection. Families are invited to bring in plastic bottles, cans, and poppers (no glass items) with the '10c Return and Earn' symbol. All items collected will be used to raise funds for important Year 6 projects, such as the traditional Year 6 gift to the school and to help subsidise expenses for special Year 6 events like the Year 6 Farewell.
This initiative is a fantastic way to support our students, reduce financial pressure on Year 6 families, and encourage everyone to care for our environment!
Important Notes:
- If your family already participates in the Return and Earn program with your children, we encourage you to continue this. It’s a fantastic way to teach the value of saving and financial literacy!
- We ask that you only bring recyclables that would otherwise go into your yellow bins at home and are eligible for Return and Earn.
If you have any questions or would like to support the program further, please contact the school office or your P&C representative.
Thank you for supporting both our Year 6 students and our school's sustainability efforts!
