Of the many things that encouraged us to seek The Hamilton and Alexandra College as a school for our children, two that were high on that list have been in abundant display this week: close teacher support and co-curricular opportunities.

I’ve been very pleased to see the number of senior students using the library recently for after-school study and assistance from teachers. Last night we had over half the Year 12 cohort with their heads down, and benefiting from one-on-one assistance from eight VCE teachers. Of course, teachers are supportive and generous at many schools, but this type of access at such a low ratio is one of the very real benefits of a smaller school, and was very pleasing to see. The library is open after school for study and academic assistance every Monday through Thursday.

And the name on everybody’s lips this week is, of course, Chicago: Teen Edition. With months of rehearsals complete, the almost 50-strong cast and crew are ready for what will be another exceptional College production. There are scant few tickets remaining, so I strongly encourage you to snap them up if you don’t have a seat already. My sincere thanks especially to Angela Price and Benjamin Hiscock, Director/Producer and Musical Director respectively, for their vision and long effort in getting to this point. Best wishes to all students involved, and enjoy the show!
