YEAR 8
Building Strong Connections

Head of Year 8
The Year 8 students have made a fantastic start to Term 3, demonstrating high levels of engagement in class, minimal referrals to the Student Support Room, excellent lunchtime behaviour, and great uniform presentation.
Many Year 8 students have also been selected to represent the College in JSS (Junior School Sport), an inter-school sport competition held on Wednesday afternoons during Sport. Congratulations to all students selected!
Families, thank you for the support shown at home to ensure our high expectations are met and to ensure learning is supported.
Keep up the good work, Year 8!
This week, during Community PG and morning PGs, we focused on unpacking our College Guiding Principle of Dignity. These principles outline the behaviours our students and staff can demonstrate to uphold ‘The St Mary’s Way’ in our learning spaces and throughout the College.
We explored what dignity means and how we can demonstrate it by showing respect for ourselves and others, representing our College with pride, allowing others to learn, using equipment and devices appropriately, and upholding academic integrity.
These are important characteristics for the growth and development of our young people as they progress through school and prepare to contribute positively to the wider community.
A reminder to please sight and sign your child’s diary every Monday night, ready for checking by their Pastoral Mentor on Tuesday morning. This accountability process helps our students develop essential organisational skills and take responsibility for their learning.
Our Week 3 House Cup Challenge is based on the highest percentage of completed parent signatures and the best use of diaries throughout the week!
Term 3 Assessment Planners are now available in the MyCE app. They are located in the ‘SCHOOL’ section under ‘DOCUMENTS’. The images below provide a step-by-step guide to help you find the Assessment Planners in the MyCE app.

You can also download the Year 8 Assessment Planner here:

We encourage families to print and display the planner at home, to help students stay organised and keep track of assessment tasks throughout the term.

School photo orders from NQ School Photography will be distributed to students via their PG Mentor this week. If you missed the opportunity to order photos, please contact the school office for your child's unique order code, which will enable you to view and order via the NQ School Photography webpage.
