In Inquiry this term, 1C has been exploring the question, ‘How do we express ourselves?’
We have been learning about the many different ways people express their identities, ideas, feelings and cultures. Throughout the term, we have explored four different cultures: Italy, Spain, Egypt and Japan. And discovered how people use food, art, music, dance, clothing, language and traditions to express themselves. Students have enjoyed learning about each culture and sharing their own ideas and experiences with their classmates.
As part of our Inquiry learning, 1C recently went on an exciting excursion to CERES Community Environment Park. During the excursion, students had the opportunity to connect with and learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Through storytelling, painting, dance, cultural walks and traditional games, students explored the many ways Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples express their culture, identity and connection to Country.
The excursion provided students with a wonderful opportunity to extend their classroom learning through hands on experiences. They listened to stories, participated in cultural activities and learned about the importance of Country, culture and community. It was a wonderful day of learning, exploring and making connections, and 1C thoroughly enjoyed the experience!
