For those of you who remember our 2022 and/or 2025 School Production, you will recall that one of the Aboriginal Languages and Cultures represented in the play was Yawuru.

Sophie Gammon recently made a visit up to Yawuru Country (Broome) to visit and thank the 3 women who helped us learn, and gifted the use of, some Yawuru language: Aunty Di Appleby, Dalisa Pigram-Ross and Deb Watkiss. While Sophie was there she was able to attend Cable Beach Primary School’s NAIDOC assembly where the students performed the Yawuru song that we used in the production.

Clifton Hill Primary School gave Cable Beach Primary School a book for their library which was written by Aunty Joy Murphy and Andrew Kelly - Wilam, A Birrarung Story. This book contains a terrific glossary of Woi wurrung language words, so the students from Yawuru Country can hear and try some of the language of the Wurundjeri people.
