Clayfield athletes continue to shine across a remarkable range of sporting arenas, with recent performances showcasing the depth of talent, ambition and opportunity within the College.
Outstanding Student Achievements
Hayley Colless
In athletics, Hayley Colless is enjoying an outstanding debut on the international stage at the Oceania Athletics Championships in Darwin. Competing at her first international meet, Hayley is delivering a superb campaign, finishing 9th in the 400m Hurdles and proudly claiming a bronze medal as part of the 4 x 100m relay team, delivering a memorable start to her international athletics journey.
Riley Taylor
In AFL, Riley Taylor’s outstanding representative campaign has continued, earning selection in the Queensland Schools 14 Years AFL State Team following Met North’s bronze medal performance at the Queensland State Championships. Riley will now take the next step, representing Queensland at the 14 Years & Under Championships, to be held at La Trobe University, Bundoora (VIC), from 25–31 July 2026, an outstanding achievement.
Lindsay Webb
In gymnastics, Clayfield athletes continue to impress at the highest level. Lindsay Webb has earned selection in the Queensland Team qualifying for the National Championships in Sydney, following a remarkable return to competition after an injury-interrupted 2024-2025 seasons. Competing in her first major event back, Lindsay finished 6th overall on Day 1 before surging to 1st overall on Day 2, while also being recognised with her Level 10 Achievement Award, which is an important milestone in her gymnastics journey.
Iara Chaves
Iara Chaves has also earned selection in the Queensland Team following exceptional performances across both the State Clubs Championships and State WAG Championships. Competing in the Developing International Division, Iara claimed the All-Around title at State Clubs, alongside 1st on Bars and 2nd on Beam, before backing up at State Championships with a composed recovery to finish 5th overall, despite a fall, while also claiming 1st on Floor.
Kyrah Breay
In equestrian, Kyrah Breay representing Clayfield College has continued her strong season, producing impressive performances at the SEQ Regional Championships to secure qualification for the State Championships. Kyrah was named Reserve Champion in the Secondary 60cm, finished 9th in the Secondary Preliminary 1.2, and claimed 3rd in the Senior Show Horse. This is a fantastic achievement as Kyrah continues to progress in the sport.
Dana and Olivia Solomon
On the tennis court, SHINE athletes Dana and Olivia Solomon enjoyed an outstanding weekend at the Shaw Park Junior Development Series Tournament. Dana claimed the U17 Singles title, while the sisters combined to secure the U17 Doubles Championship, continuing their strong development within the sport.
Across the College, students involved in the SHINE Program continue to embrace opportunities to pursue excellence in their chosen sports, gaining invaluable experiences across state, national and international pathways. These young athletes continue to let their light shine, reflecting the ambition, discipline and passion that define high-performance sport at Clayfield College.
2026 QGSSSA Cross Country Championships

The 2026 QGSSSA Cross Country Championships are fast approaching, with our athletes preparing to take on the challenge at John Paul College on Saturday 23 May. After months of disciplined training, early mornings and purposeful preparation, our runners are ready to test themselves against the strongest cross-country athletes in the QGSSSA. We encourage the entire Clayfield College community to get behind the team and help create an atmosphere worthy of the occasion.
To our athletes, we wish you every success as you take to the course. The CC Croc Squad is ready to rally behind you and proudly showcase the spirit and energy of Clayfield College.
Spectators
All Senior students are strongly encouraged to attend as supporting spectators and contribute to the atmosphere of this key school sporting event.
Spectator Prizes
Students who attend will automatically go into the draw to win special prizes including:

- Impi Sport Prizes
- Yochi vouchers
Please note: Competing athletes do not need to complete spectator sign-on.
House Spirit Bonus
Students in attendance will receive one House point, contributing to the race for the 2026 Champion House title.
Transport
Clayfield College will provide return transport to and from John Paul College.

Uniform
Students are required to wear full winter uniform, including blazer and hat.

Andrews Cup Netball Competition
The Andrews Cup Netball Competition is just around the corner and will be held on Tuesday 27 May, hosted by The Glennie School at the Nell E Robinson Netball Courts, Toowoomba.

Logistics
- Students are to meet at the Tuckshop at 5:40am for roll call
- A canteen will be operating at the venue; however, students should bring their own morning tea, lunch and water
- If permitted by parents, students may bring a small amount of money for canteen purchases
- Parents wishing to collect their child from the venue must sign out with Miss Amy Lewin
- Students are welcome to bring a pillow and blanket for the bus journey.
Canteen Information
A canteen will be available during the day. Students are encouraged to bring morning tea, lunch and a refillable water bottle, along with a small amount of spending money (if permitted by parents).

The Britton Shield Football squads have been training strongly, focusing on skill development, teamwork and match preparation ahead of their upcoming competition at Brisbane Boys’ College.

Pre-Prep to Year 1 Cross Country Carnival
Clayfield College is looking forward to hosting the Pre-Prep to Year 1 Cross Country Carnival, a wonderful opportunity for our youngest students to embrace participation, movement and House spirit.

Venue: Clayfield College Sports Oval
All students are to attend school in their sports uniform on the day.
Parents and caregivers will receive a detailed event letter closer to the event, and we warmly invite families to join us on the oval to cheer on the College’s youngest athletes.
