Italian

Buongiorno a tutti!

Well, what a term! I am so blown away with the capacity of Italian your children have learnt.  There has been much singing, dancing and speaking Italian going on in the classroom and in the school yard.

The Foundation class last week made their own CIAO pages.  They needed to find the letters scattered on the classroom floor and paste them into their books spelling CIAO correctly.  They did a great job!

Grade 2's have been learning how to say domestic animals in Italian and we've enjoyed watching Il Pappagallo song as well.  I hope you've heard your child read their book which they've taken home this week.

See video of students from 2U proudly reading their Gli Animali booklet.

Grade 3-6 have been focusing on asking and answering 4 main questions in Italian.

What is your name?   Come ti chiami?

How are you?    Come stai?

Where do you live?  Dove abiti?

How old are you?   Quanti anni hai?

Last week the Grade 5's and 6's started their AVANTI comic journey.  To get the students to this level after only 8 weeks of Italian is such an accomplishment for them.  We began sentence structure work.  Students learnt how Italians use expression in their voice to determine a statement from a question.  They were putting sentences together as a class.

The students have shown enthusiasm each week it has been met with joy and I am really loving teaching here at St. Josephs.  Thanks to everyone who has welcomed me.

Grazie mille!

Con amore e musica,
