Hello from PKW

Prep KW have been very busy learners!
In Literacy, we been learning many new sounds during our phonics programme as well as practising blending them together to read and write new words. We have enjoyed reading and retelling new stories. Our favourites so far have been The Very Cranky Bear and of course Luna Roo for Simultaneous Storytime.
We also love to practise counting every day and are counting down to 100 Days of School! Not long to go now! One of our favourite Numeracy activities is representing numbers, especially teen numbers, in different ways, such as with tally marks, pictures, blocks and number lines.
We have loved participating in so many different events at school this term. It was very special to have some of our parents and grandparents join us on the Open Morning to share in the story and activity for Luna Roo for Simultaneous Storytime.
We also visited our buddy class, 5L, and decorated and cut out a hand using Aboriginal colours and patterns for Reconciliation Week. We look forward to spending time with our buddies and having them help us.
At the end of that week we also had scientist Maddy from Toys in Motion visit. She talked to us about different types of forces and we were able to experience them while playing with a range of toys, such as yo-yos, spinning tops, balls and cars. We were so excited to make a spinner that we threw up into the air and watched as it spun to the ground.
Some other highlights for Prep KW have been Friendology lessons each week with Ninja Julie, Crazy Hair Day, using the Nudel Kart to practise building and teamwork skills with Mr Jellie and performing at our very first Junior School Assembly!
We can’t wait for all of the fun and learning that is still to come!
