Principal's Report

Attendance
Thank you to all families who took the time to participate in our recent Attendance Survey.
We greatly appreciate your feedback, ideas and honest reflections. We have carefully reviewed the responses and, most importantly, we have listened.
Your feedback has provided valuable insight into the factors that support regular attendance, as well as some of the challenges families face in getting children to school each day.
We have listened, you asked for more fun dress up type days – we are starting with our ‘Beanie Wednesdays for the month of June’, so wear your crazy beanie!
As a school, we recognise that attendance is a shared responsibility. By working together, we can create positive routines, remove barriers where possible, and ensure every child has the opportunity to learn, connect and thrive.
Over the coming weeks, we will share some of the key themes that emerged from the survey and the actions we will be taking in response. Many of your suggestions will help shape our future attendance initiatives and support programs.
Division Cross Country
We had some amazing Langy results from our recent Division cross country. We had 11 kids representing us on the day. All our students ran very well and completed the course – well done! We had some fantastic results, so fantastic, in fact, that these students will now represent the school at regional cross country next week. What super stars! We wish you all the best this coming Wednesday! Go Langy!
Results were:
Remi – 6th
Cooper – 3rd
Angus – 6th
Stella – 4th
Eden – 7th
Archie – 3rd
Emelie – 2nd
Billie – 3rd
Meisha – 9th
Pupil Free Days
Please put in the calendar that Friday July 17th is a pupil free day as this is a parent/teacher interview day. Monday November 2nd is also a pupil free day where staff will be participating in Berry Street Trauma Informed Practices professional learning.
School Council still have one more to schedule (likely to be in Term 4) and we will let you know as soon as it is decided.
Year 6 Camp this week
Our group of Year 6 students and staff will return home this afternoon after a wonderful, but chilly 3 days at Log Cabin Camp, Creswick. Camps are one of the most amazing experiences of our primary school time and I would like to thank the teachers, school staff and volunteer parents who have organized these and have given up their time to supervise and care for our students.
School Tours and Enrolments for 2027
We are very keen to know what our sibling enrolments are likely to be for 2027 so we encourage you to enrol your child as soon as possible. This will assist greatly with our forward planning! Applications for enrolments are now done online. For more information, please read about how to enrol your child in Foundation at vic.gov.au/enrolling-foundation-prep. Make sure to submit your enrolment application by Friday 31 July 2026.
Principal Leave
I will be taking the final week of term off on Long Service Leave as I head overseas with my husband to Bali for a holiday. Mr Balzary will be the Acting Principal in my absence. If I don’t see you in the coming week, please have a restful and warm winter holiday break, and I look forward to seeing everyone when we return in Term 3.
Have a wonderful fortnight,
Mrs Pepper
