Konnichiwa, Monty Community!

Foundation students have been learning how to count from 1–10 in Japanese using mnemonic cards (e.g. 'itchy' for number one with a picture of an itchy face, 'knee' for number two with a picture of knees, and so on). They have also started practising a number song to a familiar Christmas tune. Students have been very enthusiastic about singing in Japanese!

Year 1 and 2 students have been learning the names of fruits through The Very Hungry Caterpillar. In addition to building their vocabulary, they have been practising how to recognise and read each fruit name in Hiragana letters.

They have shown great understanding when identifying words through interactive games such as Snap, as well as when using their own fruit flower dictionaries.
