Our Community

Building stronger bonds- Written by Chloe Rehbane

Open Day 2025

We had a wonderful open day with approximately 150 people in attendance.

The day included presentation from the Executive Principal, Sr Margaret and Head of College, Mr Elie Asmar.

Following the presentation, our guests were provided morning tea and then a tour took place led by our student leaders.

Following the tour, our guests returned for Q&A.

The feedback was impressive with guests commenting how professional and respectful our student tour guides were.

MCHF Celebrates International Women's Day

On behalf of the Student Representative Council (SRC) and the MCHF community, on the 7th of March celebrated the strength, wisdom, and nurturing spirit of women everywhere. In Mary, Mother of God, we see the ultimate example of grace, perseverance, and selfless love, qualities that shine brightly in the dedicated women who shape young minds every day.

To all the incredible women in our school community, thank you for your unwavering commitment, guidance, and care. Your impact is immeasurable, and today, we honour you. To the women who have shaped us to who we but are no longer with us, on this day, we remember and honour their legacy.

A huge thank you to Ms A Dagher and Mr J Isaac who have helped us (SRC ) with filming and scripts and to the staff who stepped up to be interviewed, we say thank you.

Year 12 Leaders: Representing MCHF at the International Women's Day Conference

Year 12 female leaders were invited by the Lord Mayor of Parramatta, Councillor Martin Zaiter, to attend the International World Women’s Day conference at Parramatta Town Hall. The students were inspired by keynote and panel speakers exploring the progression of women in the workforce and were touched by their life experiences.

Mothers Spiritual Retreat

On 28 March, Sr Irene and 48 of our wonderful mothers, took a bus trip to St Rafqa for a spiritual day involving a reflection led by Sr Irene, Mass celebration and a shared lunch. There was plenty of time for spirituality, socialising and enjoying one another’s company. Mr Asmar popped in to visit the ladies. We hope to have more spiritually engagingevents for our parents in the terms ahead.

Kellogg's Breakfast Buddies returns to MCHF!

Imagine a school that fosters the promotion of service by providing our students with the best possible start to the day, breakfast!

All this has been made possible every Wednesday and Friday morning at MCHF. Wednesday 26th March, marks the start of another year where our college has been fortunate enough to obtain a sponsorship from Kellogg's to provide a range of breakfast cereals to our students. This partnership is successful because it brings together a whole school culture that encourages collaboration between our internal and external communities. Another great example of our college's theme live in action demonstrating how together we achieve.

We thank Kellogg's for their support, and we also thank the donations we have received from our college's families who as a result are helping our students receive the nourishment, they deserve to start their day.

We also thank the MCHF teachers who volunteer their time on these mornings to serve our students.

A huge thank you to our 2025 Breakfast Buddies Sponsors. If you are interested in sponsoring, please email media@mchf.nsw.edu.au.

We congratulate Ms. Patty Esber-Dayoub, HSIE KLA Coordinator (Social Sciences), on being honoured for her excellence in teaching by the Maronite Catholic Society at a special event on Friday 28th March. She was one of three educators recognised for their outstanding contributions to education.

Term 1 Parent Association Update

In 2025 the Parent Association kicked off ahead of the game. Myself, Dian, Susie & Charlie having already been elected at the end of 2024, gave us the opportunity to map out important dates and events together with our newly appointed PA delegate, Ms Claudia Bou-melhem, together with Sr Irene Boughosn, Head of Mission.

Term 1 has been a whirlwind of preparing multiple events & meetings. Our first meeting saw many familiar faces as well as some new to help us prepare for the year. We’ve had an assortment of events so far, from supporting the college initiatives, fundraising, plus spiritual and social gatherings. We were able to participate in the college Meet & Greet, Volunteer induction, Parent Learning Lounge, Harmony day, Lenten Retreat and are awaiting the K-2 Easter Hat Parade and Easter Raffle.  We are partway through our 1st fundraiser, which has raised over $2,000 profit so far!

That’s just term 1, for term 2 we are ready for our ever-popular Mother’s Day stall, setting up a fun over 18+ trivia event & looking forward to contributing towards our annual Wellbeing Wednesday fundraiser collaboration for the Cancer Council. It’s a big year with both traditional and new PA events in our calendar and we endeavour to keep growing and being able to make a positive impact on our college.
