Outdoor Education

Hands on learning!
If there is one thing all our students connect with, it's being hands on in their learning. This week there were some lovely sunny days, so students were able to make and build items using basic materials from around the school. In both Outdoor Education and Art, students were making items such as torn paper 'Paper Clay' in Art and Christmas wreaths and ornaments in Outdoor Education. These tasks were a great way to develop student's understanding of the environmental footprint within items they buy and use.
Cooking
With the abundance of herbs in the garden and eggs being produced by our happy chickens, the Year 5's and Year 6's did a wonderful job of cooking with them last week. Year 6's used herbs and flavours from the garden when making a range of quiches and muffin slabs. The Year 5's churned their own butter! Students were amazing in how they worked together, some cutting, some mixing, some cleaning up. The reward? To devour the yummy egg quiches and herby butter on bread!
