Remembrance Day

Gallery Image

On Tuesday, November 11th, our school commemorated Remembrance Day. Staff and students paused to reflect on the service and sacrifice of those who have served in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. A minute’s silence was observed and students participated respectfully.

The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month marks the moment the guns fell silent on the Western Front in France and Belgium at the end of World War 1 in the year 1918, after 4 years of fighting.

🐑 The Great Green Sheep Hunt: 2026 Prep Orientation Day!

Over the last fortnight, Holy Cross warmly welcomed twenty families for our Prep Orientation program. Our first Prep Orientation Day was an unforgettable adventure for the newest members of our school community! Instead of the usual school tour, we turned the popular book Where is the Green Sheep? into a fun, real-life mission.

The students' task was to find an actual Green Sheep. This quest was strategically structured to ensure every Prep student became familiar with all the essential spots they will need to know when they start school, including the toilets and the library.

The mission culminated in finding a very calm and patient old ewe grazing in the paddock, whose wool had been given a brilliant, temporary makeover using a completely non-toxic, pet-safe hair spray.

The excitement and joy from the Preps were infectious! They celebrated finding the Green Sheep with cheers and pointing, proving the effort was entirely worthwhile. Not only did they complete their mission, but they now know their way around the school, providing them with a wonderful, confident start to their schooling journey and a great story to share!

Social Justice Market

Our Year 6 students recently hosted a fantastic Social Justice Market on Tuesday, 18th November, raising funds to support the Macedon Ranges Wildlife Network, a wonderful not-for-profit organisation dedicated to rescuing and caring for wildlife in our local area.

Thanks to the generosity and creativity of our students and school community, the market raised an incredible $1,040, with 100% of the funds donated to support the important work of this organisation.

The market featured a variety of fun and engaging stalls, including:

  • Sweet Treats
  • Games
  • Baked Goods
  • Basketball Shoot Out
  • Soccer Games
  • Face Painting
  • Coloured Hair Spraying and Braiding
  • Fun Tattoos

We congratulate our Year 6 students on their amazing efforts in organising and running this event, demonstrating leadership, teamwork, and a strong commitment to social justice. Their hard work will make a real difference for wildlife in the Macedon Ranges!

Gisborne Foodbank Christmas Drive

Gallery Image

This Christmas season, our school is proud to once again support the Gisborne Foodbank in their wonderful work helping local families in need. Each year, the Foodbank puts together around 130 Christmas hampers to spread some festive cheer to those who may be doing it tough and we’re excited to play our part!

Just like our Easter collection, we’ll have a tub in each classroom where students and families can donate Christmas goods, non-perishable treats and festive items that will help make someone’s holiday a little brighter.

Please have all donations in by Friday, 5th December, so we can deliver them to the Foodbank in time for their big packing day on Tuesday, 9th December.

Every item, big or small, helps make a difference. Thank you for your generosity and community spirit, together, we can help make Christmas special for everyone in our community.

Could Year levels donate the following items:

Prep - Shortbread and biscuits

Yr 1 - Chocolates / Lollies

Yr 2 - Bon bons / serviettes

Yr 3 -  Puddings / Cakes

Yr 4 -  Nuts  Chips

Yr 5 -  Soft drink

Yr 6 -  Long life custard/milk/cream

Thank you

Christmas Concert

We are excited to invite all families to our 2025 Christmas Concert on Wednesday, 10th December! It’s always a wonderful way to celebrate the end of the school year together and enjoy some student performances.

Before the concert begins, the PFA will be hosting a BBQ from 5 pm, so families are encouraged to come along early, grab a bite to eat, and relax before the show.

We look forward to seeing everyone there for an evening of celebration and  community spirit!
