Secondary Update

Welcome to Term 4 Secondary fams! Already weeks in, I still can't quite believe we are embarking on the final term of the school year!? The Junior and Senior Secondary students have got straight back into learning with great enthusiasm after the break, and are excited to share what's been going on and celebrate some of their achievements.

At the end of last term, Secondary students had a blast participating in the Paper Planet Incursion hosted by The Polyglot Theatre Company. This interactive and hands-on experience allowed our students to engage with and explore the magical world of paper in a creative and imaginative way, whilst creating their own paper sculptures and engaging in collaborative play. It was a truly enriching experience for everyone involved. We extend our gratitude to The Polyglot Theatre Company for providing such a wonderful, immersive experience for our students.

We recently observed RUOK Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about mental health and encouraging open conversations. A big thank you to Jessie Francis for planning and organising the day, and supporting Secondary students to bake, decorate, pack and distribute delicious RUOK cookies to HVS staff. We want to remind our families and carers to prioritise their mental health and reach out for support when needed. Together, we create a supportive and caring community.

Our annual Move-a-Thon event was a great success! Secondary students swam, walked, wheeled, jogged, ran, rode, scooted, danced and celebrated being active. Thank you to all the families and carers who supported this fundraiser. Your generosity will help us enhance our educational programs and provide additional resources for our students.

Camp Blackwood is just around the corner! Next month, Year 9 students will head off on this exciting outdoor experience which will provide our students with a unique opportunity to engage in team-building activities, explore nature, and create lasting memories. A fantastic experience that promotes both team building and individual strengths, we can't wait to hear about all their adventures!

And lastly, a shout out... Angus, one of our school captains, is currently participating in a 10-week work experience program at GDP Industries. This is a fantastic opportunity for Angus to gain valuable real-world experience and develop essential skills for future success. We are incredibly proud of his dedication and hard work - Go Angus!
