From the Directors of Boarding

As we reach the halfway mark of the year, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all staff, families, and students for your continued support and involvement in GSG Boarding. We deeply value the trust families place in us, and our dedicated boarding team works tirelessly to ensure every student feels safe, supported, and inspired to grow, learn, and build lifelong friendships.
Communication
We have established a new generic email address for boarding correspondence boarding@gsg.wa.edu.au. This is a helpful option if you're unsure who to contact, if staff are on leave, or if you're referring a prospective boarding family. Of course, you're still welcome to reach out to individual staff members as needed.
Academic Commitment
It has been wonderful to see boarders committing to their studies recently. Many students, particularly the senior students, have recently been taking advantage of the extra ‘exam focused’ tutoring sessions held at Breaksea and Eclipse over the last three weeks of term. We’d like to thank the GSG teaching fraternity for their commitment to learning and for showing up at boarding, after hours, to support our boarders.
Access to Boarding Houses
A friendly reminder to all families that GSG Boarding Houses are closed at times when supervision has ceased. Therefore, Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 3.00pm Breaksea, Eclipse and Endeavour Houses are closed to all students and visitors. During this time, only cleaners, GSG Maintenance crews and external trades people are permitted to enter.
If families or students need to store or drop off belongings during these times, we would appreciate 24 hours prior warning via boarding@gsg.wa.edu.au and then you may deliver/pick up items to/from Michaelmas House (Administration area, not the Health Centre please).
Parent Committee
Many thanks all members of the GSG Boarding Parent Committee for their attendance and contribution to the meeting held last Friday. It was a wonderful opportunity to get everyone together and for us all to be up to speed on where we’ve come from, where we’d like to be, and to discover the ways in which we can all work together to make things even better at GSG Boarding. You will hear more about the GSG Open Day early next term, and on behalf of the committee, we encourage all boarding families to get involved in the boarding-focused aspects of that day. The GSG Open Day, is a new-look version of the Kingfisher Fair, and will be held on Sunday 14 September, 11.00am to 3.00pm.
Boarding News
Please keep an eye out for a new entry sign, to be installed on the left side of the main entrance to the Boarding village precinct. Thanks to Mat Irving and the Parent Committee for working to make this happen.
We are excited to share news that we are in the early stages of planning a pump track for all our current and emerging bike riding enthusiasts. This will be a collaboration between students, boarding and the GSG Outdoor Education staff. We’d like to thank the GSG P&F for kick starting the support for this exciting initiative. More updates to follow over the coming months.
Finally, we will be welcoming another female Gap Assistant at Boarding. Her name is Ashlee, she is from South Africa and will be arriving at GSG early next term, after completing orientation training with the Letz Live organisation in Queensland. We are looking forward to meeting Ashlee soon and are excited for her to join our (much loved) gappie team; Amy, Kyle and Handre.
Thank you again for your ongoing support. We’re proud of the strong, caring community we’ve built together and look forward to an exciting second half of the year.
