Governance Matters

Spotlight on the College Foundation
Established in 1987, the All Saints’ College Foundation plays a pivotal role in supporting the College's mission by fostering a culture of philanthropy and ensuring long-term financial sustainability. Operating under its own constitution and governed by a dedicated Board of Directors which meets four times per year, the Foundation is committed to prudent investment management and strategic development to enhance the educational experience of current and future students.
The Foundation's inaugural Strategic Plan (2023–2026) outlines a comprehensive framework focusing on governance, investment activities and community engagement. Key objectives include growing the Foundation's investments to safeguard against future financial uncertainties and providing consistent support for College programs and initiatives. The Plan also emphasises establishing relationships with similar foundations and universities to share knowledge and expertise in the development space. Recent achievements include a comprehensive review and updating of its constitution, the appointment of new investment managers (Mercer) and the establishment of an Investment Committee.
The Foundation's Board comprises individuals with diverse expertise, ensuring effective stewardship and alignment with the College's values. The current Foundation Board Chair, Mark Balding (Class of 1988), brings extensive experience in project and technology management and business transformation.
Other Board members are: Vice Chair Mark Laybourn, Treasurer Richard Haselgrove (also the College’s Director of Business and Administration), Secretary David Kerr, members Gary Mack and Dr Subra Ananthram (co-opted from the College Board) and new appointees, Alan Rees and Cara Graham, both appointed for three-year terms at the May AGM. Each member contributes unique skills and perspectives, strengthening the Foundation's capacity to support the College's mission.
Through initiatives like the JM Wright Bequest Society and various giving programs, the Foundation encourages community members to contribute to the College's legacy, fostering a spirit of generosity and shared commitment to educational excellence.
