Mark Greenwood - Year 4 Author Visit

We kicked off our Book Week term in style with a visit from award-winning author Mark Greenwood. Through fascinating stories, insights into his research process, and plenty of insider writing tips, Mark inspired students to see themselves as both readers and creators.

Author visits are a powerful way to bring books to life. Meeting the person behind a story helps students understand that books are created by real people with ideas, curiosity, and perseverance. These experiences encourage our students to read more widely, think creatively, and develop confidence in sharing their own stories.

We thank Mark for his engaging presentation and for inspiring the next generation of readers, writers, and lifelong learners.

Book Week Term is Here

Ironside will celebrate Book Week in Week 10. With this year’s theme, Symphony of Stories, we’re celebrating how every reader adds their own instrument to our school’s story. Events will include our Book Character Costume Parade and a fabulous incursion. Our Book Week Team will share plans for this wonderful event in the coming weeks.

Thanks to the incredible support of our school community through our 2025 Book Fair fundraising, our library has been able to begin working towards incorporating dynamic shelving, issuing students invitations to explore every time they walk in.

With your support we have purchased eight beautiful book display boxes that allow us to showcase books more effectively and create eye-catching displays throughout the library. We have also begun refreshing our shelving with clear acrylic book boxes and stands, giving us greater flexibility to display books front-facing and highlight new and featured titles. Research shows that when books are displayed face-out, students are more likely to notice them, pick them up, and read them. A front-facing book almost seems to say, Take a look inside! —sparking curiosity and encouraging reading discoveries.

Thank you for helping us create a vibrant library space that inspires exploration, fosters a love of reading, and makes every visit an opportunity to discover something new.
