From the Classroom

Year 1C – Term 3 Off to a Flying Start!
Term 3 is off to a fantastic start in Year 1! Our students have settled back into school routines beautifully and have hit the ground running with their learning. We have an exciting term ahead, with plenty of engaging learning experiences and special events to look forward to.
In English, students are learning to retell imaginative stories. They have been developing their oral storytelling skills before bringing their ideas to life through writing, using descriptive language such as interesting verbs and adjectives. It has been wonderful to see how much their writing has grown since the beginning of the year.
In Mathematics, we are exploring measurement, modelling addition and subtraction, and investigating 3D shapes. Students enjoyed taking part in a shape hunt around the school, discovering that the world around us is made up of a variety of different shapes. Here we are measuring each other!
This term in Science, we are learning about living things and their needs. Our recent excursion to Nudgee Beach provided the perfect connection to this unit, giving students the opportunity to explore mangrove habitats and observe sand crabs and other living things in their natural environment.
We are looking forward to a busy and rewarding term filled with learning, growth and fun. We can't wait to see what our Year 1 learners achieve next!
