Chappy News

Hello!

 We may have met, but in case we have not, let me introduce myself. My name is Roslyn and I am working as a Chaplain here at Ironside. Australians love to shorten names, so you will often hear Chaplain shortened to Chappy. 

Chaplaincy has a long and rich history in Australia, and, indeed, across the world. It is a delight to be able to be part of the school community in this capacity.  For now, it is sufficient to say that I am a member of the Student Support team and provide practical, social and emotional support to the school community. 

‘Friends of Chappy’ Breakfast

On Thursday August 6, 7:30 am, I will be hosting an informal breakfast in the Hall of St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 87 Central Ave, St Lucia. The purpose of the breakfast is to gather those who have been the traditional supporters of school chaplaincy and continue the dialogue regarding how we can partner with the Ironside State School staff to raise thriving children. The school motto is Servabo Fidem, which has been variously interpreted: I will be trustworthy. I will keep faith in humanity. I will be honourable. I will not give up faith.

So perhaps we could say our purpose is how we, through chaplaincy, can assist the school community to raise trustworthy, honourable and faith filled children. 

We are delighted that Ms. Kelly, our principal, is planning to attend.

Breaktime Chappy Craft

 On Tuesdays and Thursdays during term, there is craft offered to the children: Tuesdays 2nd Break (Prep to Year 2) G Block, and Thursdays 1st Break (Years 4-6) in the Hall, and in 2nd Break (Years 3-4) in B Block.
