Years 7 & 8 Netball Team

Congratulations to our netballers who participated in the NSW Netball Schools Cup State Finals last Friday in Sydney. Thank you to Mrs McLachlan and Mr Uebergang for coaching the students. Thanks also to the parents who supported the girls and assisted with transport.

The girls acquitted themselves very well against some tough competition and were excellent ambassadors of Holy Trinity.

Year 10

Students had a great time at their Christian Living Camp at the Dam. Our thanks go to Mrs Guest, Mrs McLachlan, Mr Baldwin, and Mr Koch for their time supervising and organising this important event.

We also held the Year 10 Family Dinner, which was a great night had by all celebrating our Year 10 students and their families.

This week, some students have taken the opportunity to undertake a second week of Work Experience. We wish them well and thanks local businesses for being willing to host our students.

Finally, we wish our students well as they attend the Australian Catholic Youth Festival (ACYF). They will be joining other diocesan schools for this exciting opportunity in Melbourne. Thank you to Mrs Guest and Mr Baldwin for accompanying the students.

Congratulations Georgina Taylor

We are delighted to announce that Georgina was successful in her application for a HNEH Nursing School-Based Traineeship and will commence the program in 2026. This is a particularly exciting development, as the introduction of Stage 6 to Holy Trinity now enables our students to pursue their career passions through valuable opportunities such as this.

Presentation Day

Presentation Day will be held on Wednesday 10 December at 12.00 pm in the Hall. Families are invited to attend.

Thanksgiving Mass

Festive Food Hampers

Students are being encouraged to bring in 'Festive Food' items for their class hampers. All hampers will be donated to St Vincent de Paul for distribution to those in need in our local community. Hampers will be collected and taken to the Hall as part of our Thanksgiving Prayer celebrations on Thursday 11 December.

Week 10 End-of-Year Activities Wednesday 10 December

Information will be available on Compass outlining the program for class activities on Wednesday 10 December. Students may wear plain clothes and are reminded to have hats and sunscreen. Consent must be received in order for the students to participate in the festivities.

2026 Class Lists

Secondary class lists will not be finalised until the students return in 2026.

This includes Pastoral Care classes, general teaching classes and any streamed classes.

It is possible that classes may appear on Compass before then. Please disregard this until school resumes in 2026, as they will not necessarily accurately reflect the classes.

After school has resumed in 2026, please get in touch with Miss Bailey if you wish to discuss the class your child has been placed in.

Book packs are purchased by students in Years 7 & 8. They are availbable from the Front Office.

Social Media Minimum Age Act

From 10 December 2025, social media platforms will be legally required to block or remove accounts held by Australians under the age of 16.

We will discuss this at school, but it is essential that parents also talk with their children about what this actually means for them.

NRL League Tag

Good luck to the league tag teams, who will in the NRL competition tomorrow at Kamilaroi.

Uniform

Students are reminded to wear the correct uniform, including appropriate and safe footwear. It is an expectation that hair is moderately styled with natural tones and tied back if long. If a student is not able to wear the correct uniform, please provide written information to the roll teacher indicating when the situation can be remedied. Hats and sunscreen are also required for all outdoor activities.

Sun Safe

The weather has been heating up rapidly, and students are reminded that they should have a hat for all outside activities. Sunscreen is also available for Sport, PDHPE and other outside lessons; however, the best protection is provided with the combined use of a hat and sunscreen. School caps are available from the Uniform Shop. Please ensure that your child has the correct school uniform cap or hat.

Evaluating Areas to Improve

Over the Christmas break it is easy to put all thoughts of school out of your mind and just enjoy the holidays. This is not a bad thing, it is important to have a good break and clear your mind. However when you start back at school again you will probably have forgotten what you were doing well at school and what you need to change in order to improve your results.

So before school ends this term, it is important to take some time and evaluate your approach in these key areas, writing down the changes you will make when you return to school so you don’t forget them.

USE OF CLASSTIME

How well did you use your time in class? Who did you sit next to? Did you work well together? Did you listen to teachers and fellow students when they were speaking? Did you participate and contribute in your lessons? What are the main changes you need to make in this area?

ASKING FOR HELP

If you didn’t understand something in class did you ask a question about it? If you were unsure about an assignment or assessment did you check in with your teacher? If you were struggling with a topic did you ask for help? What are the main changes you need to make in this area?

TIME MANAGEMENT

Did you do enough schoolwork each afternoon? Did you plan out a timeline to do the work for your assessments? When you were working at home did you remove all distractions so you could focus? What are the main changes you need to make in this area?

PREPARING FOR TESTS

Did you ensure that you were always clear on what you were being tested on? Did you make study notes along the way so you had them ready for test time? Did you test yourself on the content as you were learning it to see if it was in your memory? Did you do lots of questions to practice the skills of the subject? What are the main changes you need to make in this area?

Google Classroom allows teachers to create classes, distribute paperless assignments, post announcements and class questions, and provide feedback, all through an intuitive, student-friendly interface.

ASSESSMENT POLICIES

It would be appreciated if parents could read the information in the booklet and discuss the issues raised with their children. The assessment process is similar to that which the students will encounter in Stage 6 as they prepare for their Higher School Certificate.

Device Policy

Students are not permitted to use their devices unless instructed by a teacher. This includes both the classroom and the playground. The students are aware of this policy and receive constant reminders in Pastoral Care, their teaching classes, and there are also many posters displayed all around the school.

If a student needs to use their device, they must first seek permission from a teacher and use it in an area designated by the teacher. This is usually under their direct supervision or outside the Secondary staffroom.

If students are unable to follow this policy, then their phone is confiscated and placed securely in Miss Bailey's office, where it is collected by the student at the end of the school day.

Teachers record each time a device has been confiscated. After the device has been seized for a second time, it remains at school until it can be collected by a parent/carer.
